About WNP
How I get outside.
Wild Nature Play is about helping children find the joy and experience the benefits of outdoor play. It is about finding the special hidden places around where we live and encouraging families to tell kids, "GET OUTSIDE AND PLAY."
My name is Paul Humes and I have been in education as a licensed K-6 educator, camp counselor, teaching consultant, outdoor skills mentor, and environmental educator for 12+ years. I love being outside and try to get my daughter out as much as possible. She is the barefoot, shirtless toddler here. Don't be fooled, she also loves handbags and shirts with hearts but we are finding a balance, together.
We live in a suburban city with jobs, school, daycare, and lots of daily chores. However, we make it a point to get outside every day. Sometimes that means a long hike or finding a place to listen to the birds but other times it is only a deep breathe on our way to the car. We say good morning to the sun and send it off with a wave each night. I notice a big difference in the happiness of everyone in my home when we do take time to acknowledge the world around us.
